The Ayurvedic Approach

Ayurveda is based on the universal elements; ether, air, fire, water and earth, which are both physical and subtle in nature.  Within us, these elements are combined and represented by the doshas.

Vata = Ether & Air Pitta = Fire & Water Kapha = Water & Earth

Your body needs all three energies  to maintain regular bodily functions, biologically, physiologically and psychologically.  When working together, they maintain a healthy body and mind, however when one or more dosha is out of balance, illness and dis-ease is experienced.

You have a unique bend of the three doshas, this is your individual mind-body constitution.  Being aware of your own dosha is the key to understanding your tendency to go out of balance.

When dis-ease occurs, a holistic approach, taking into consideration your emotional, physical and mental health, as well as life history and environmental factors will help you understand your dosha, your state of imbalance and the root cause of your dis-ease.
